History
In 2013, founder Rebecca Tankersley started The Young Nonprofit Professionals Network of Orange County (YNPNOC) as a chapter of YNPN National.
From its beginning in 1997 as an informal gathering of peers in San Francisco, YNPN has grown to become one of the nation’s largest associations of nonprofit practitioners. To better serve this growing national network and provide infrastructure for local chapters across the country, YNPN National incorporated as an independent, national 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in 2004. YNPN National provides support and resources for local YNPN networks through leadership development, networking and advocacy activities.
In 2020, at the height of the pandemic, the chapter took an opportunity to pause and reflect on its purpose and how it could serve nonprofit professionals seeking new ways of impacting the sector in Orange County. Under the direction of Board Chair Victoria Torres, and dedication by its Founding Board Members, the chapter was reimagined and rebranded as the Orange County Nonprofit Professionals Network (OCNPN), in an effort to include nonprofit professionals of all ages and experience levels. A place where anyone looking to grow professionally can come and experience what it is like to serve and lead successfully.
